Instructions
Preparation
Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes in boiling water. Drain and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix everything well.
Form the mixture into meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
Cooking Meatballs
Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Carefully add the meatballs to the pan and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
Simmering Sauce
Once the meatballs are browned, add canned tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to the same pan. Stir everything together.
Reduce the heat slightly and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Final Assembly
Gently place the cooked meatballs into the sauce and let them simmer together for another 10 minutes.
Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Garnish with more Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
Notes
Allow the spaghetti and meatballs to cool before storing. They can be refrigerated for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
